Join the Discord server for access to virtual coworking and all of the other community channels! It can be a bit easier if you install and create an account on Discord before entering the Soulful Focus server.
Overwhelmed? Confused? Schedule a quick Discord orientation with me!
Be patient. If you can’t see all the channels when you first arrive, you’ll be given the correct access as soon as I see you’ve joined!
GENERAL DISCORD USE:
Muting channels/server: Some info on muting specific channels, etc. on our Discord server can be found here: https://support.discordapp.com/hc/en-us/articles/209791877-How-do-I-mute-and-disable-notifications-for-specific-channels-
Check pinned posts: Always a good place to start in any channel. Anything specific to that area is likely pinned in a message.
Issues/questions: If something is amiss, privately message me or throw a message in the #welcome-chat and I’ll get you squared away with the correct permissions or troubleshooting.
The admin posts channel is set up so that only Brandice can post. You’ll see big announcements and new posts to the blog. If you have any questions or responses related to the posts you see in this area, feel free to chat about it in the #open-sharing or #welcome-chat channels.
This is the landing zone for brand new members and it might be one of the only areas accessible until I can get your account set up with the proper permissions. You’ll also see periodic check-ins from @The Butler prompting you to create a grounded and organized approach to weekly and other cycles (reminders to set up your planner for the week and schedule coworking, etc.).
If you’re not sure where a conversation might go within the available topic channels, it can likely go in this main channel for just openly chatting. This is a catch-all for chit chat that is general and that you desire to share with the entire server.
This is the space to declare in order to own it. Commit, say it out loud, pop back in to report back or change your intention. These will be periodically scrubbed to clear out old intentions and make room for your new ones. Sunday or the evening before your week starts is a great time, but really any time is a good time to say something in a place where it’s witnessed and thus given even more attention and energy in support of YOU.
Want to do some virtual coworking? You have a few options!
You can virtually coworking in this channel using @The Sprint Master bot to set a timer manually and hop on the audio channel if you’d like to chat verbally to share task commitments and victories with anyone who joins you. No video required. Syntax is explained in a pinned message but it’s:
!sprint in [# min until start] for [# min of sprint]
!sprinting (you’re joining the current sprint)
If you want to schedule time and know that at least Brandice will be there with you to set a timer and work with you? Head over to http://soulfulfocus.com/worksprints and schedule time. More than one person can grab the same time, so feel free to let people know when you’re scheduled here in the chat!
.amworking– This will pop you into the always-open web-based videoconference room for doing worksprints. You’ll get the link to both the virtual room and a handy web-based timer (that anyone with the link can see and be synced with) to use if you need one. You may not have a work partner this way, but you might find someone willing to work with you on the fly if you pop in here and announce that you’re getting some shit done. Example:
Looking to just co-exist? No specific work to do but you’d like company while reading, journaling, crafting, or anything really?
If you would like to hop into the always-available video conferencing space, there are some quick commands to let other know over in the #coexisting channel!
.amscribbling(shared journaling/planning/scribbling videoconference)
.amreading(shared quiet reading videoconference)
So, under the TOPICS category, you’ll find several channels based on the community’s ongoing conversations. Some will be ongoing and longstanding, and some will be related to topics that are specific to current conversation, current season, current interests, etc. Below you’ll find some of the longstanding channels, but you’ll find others as well, depending on when you join and what level of patron you happen to be.
This is the channel for you if you’re looking to share about your journaling, planner, writing, artwork, or the tools and systems you use for doing all of these things. There will likely be a decent amount of planner chatting, but all scribbling talk is welcome.
This is the space in which to share your soul work, whether it’s showing off a new oracle deck/system, chatting about tarot/astrology/animism, sharing a recent healing session experience, discussing how to responsibly navigate soul tending from each of our positions and levels of privilege on the planet, or pondering any other soul tending related topic.
Feel free to offer up a free card pull if you’re practicing with a new deck, let us know about big shifts that are impacting your focus and your soul’s path, and feel free to ask for support or resources. This space will be held to a firm level of accountability with regard to things like cultural appropriation, anti-oppressive practices, and owning the inherent social justice issues that come with existing even in the most spiritual spaces on this planet. Our soul path is not exempt or separate from our overall journey, our experience of privilege (or lack of), and the sacred work of tending community and our planet.
Show us your office, your dedicated “me” space at home, including plants (especially plants), altar spaces, artwork, furniture, and any other aspect of your setup that lights your space up with the energy you need to be as focused and supported in your space as possible. Tending our spaces is a deeply important part of who we’re able to be in them, and I love to see how people intentionally tend their own space, or even public spaces.
